Fascinating Guizhou:A Heaven of Myriad Mountains
贵州省位于中国西南,简称“黔”或“贵”。1413 年(明永乐十一年),明朝设贵州承宣布政使司,贵州正式成为省级行政单位。1949年12月26日,贵州省人民政府成立。其中地级市6个——贵阳市、六盘水市、遵义市、安顺市、毕节市、铜仁市,民族自治州3个——黔西南布依族苗族自治州、黔东南苗族侗族自治州、黔南布依族苗族自治州。
Guizhou, located in southwest China, is commonly abbreviated as “Qian” or “Gui” in Chinese. In 1413, the Guizhou Provincial Administration Commission was set up, officially designating Guizhou as a province. The Guizhou Provincial People’s Government was established on December 26, 1949. The six prefecture-level cities are Guiyang, Liupanshui, Zunyi, Anshun, Bijie, and Tongren. The three ethnic autonomous prefectures are Qianxinan Bouyei and Miao Autonomous Prefecture,Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture, and Qiannan Bouyei and Miao Autonomous Prefecture.
明代哲学家、军事家、心学大师王阳明曾盛赞贵州是“天下山水之秀聚于黔中”。著名地理学家、文学家徐霞客曾说:“天下山峰何其多,惟有此处峰成林。”
Wang Yangming,a philosopher, strategist and master of the School of Mind during the Ming dynasty, praised Guizhou as a place where the most marvelous mountains and riversare to be found. Also, Xu Xiake, a famous geographer and writer, once said that despite the numerous mountains in the world, only the peaks here rise as dense as forests.
贵州是中国唯一一个没有平原的省份,是名副其实的山地大省。贵州拥有4处世界自然遗产,这四个遗址分别是荔波森林喀斯特、赤水丹霞地貌、施秉云台山和铜仁梵净山。
Guizhou, the only province in China without plains, is a veritable mountainous province.Guizhou is proud to have four World Natural Heritage sites listed. They are Libo Karst, Chishui Danxia Landform, Shibing Karst and Fanjing Mountain in Tongren.
海龙屯遗址,这座屹立于中国遵义龙岩山之巅的古代军事城堡,四面陡峭,被群山环绕,山后一线窄径是唯一通道。《明史》称其为“飞鸟腾猿不能逾者”。The Hailongtun Fortress Site, an ancient military architectural site, stands on the top of Longyan Mountain in Zunyi, China. Surrounded by mountains and steep on all sides, it has a narrow path behind the mountain as its only access. The History of the Ming Dynasty referred to it as “ uncrossable even by birds and monkeys ”.
它始建于1257年,见证了中国古代少数民族政策的变迁,是贵州首个且目前唯一的世界文化遗产,也是当今中国乃至亚洲保存完好的古军事城堡遗址。作为中国封建王朝羁縻与土司制度的重要遗存,它于2015年入选“世界十大田野考古发现”。Built in 1257, it has witnessed the evolution of ancient China's ethnic minority policies. It is the first and currently only World Heritage Site in Guizhou Province. It is one of the best-preserved ancient military architectural sites in China and Asia. As a significant historical relic of the feudal dynasty and chieftain system in China, it was selected in 2015 as one of the “ Top Ten Archaeological Discoveries in the World ”.
其屯内占地面积约2万平方米。飞虎关、飞龙关、三十六步天梯等遗址至今傲然挺立于山巅,见证了往昔的辉煌。
The fortress covers an area of approximately 20,000 square meters. The Flying Tiger Pass, Flying Dragon Pass, 36-step High Ladder, and other ruins still stand strong.
